Flashcards Per Day Calculator
How many flashcards should you study each day to finish your deck before the exam? Set your deck size and deadline to get a daily target — including the review workload most calculators forget.
The plan finishes new cards 6 day(s) early, so every card gets reviewed at least a few times before test day.
How the daily target is calculated
The calculator reserves the last stretch before your exam for reviews only, then spreads your new cards across the remaining days. It also estimates your true daily workload: with spaced repetition, each new card returns for several reviews at growing intervals, so steady-state study time runs at roughly four cards seen per new card learned. Planning around only the new cards is the classic mistake that makes decks feel impossible in the final week.
RemNote handles both halves automatically: the AI flashcard generator builds the deck from your notes, and spaced repetition schedules every review so you just open the queue each day.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many flashcards should I study per day?
Divide your deck size by the days you have, minus a review buffer at the end — that gives your new cards per day. Most students do well between 10 and 40 new cards daily.
The real constraint is reviews: every new card you learn today comes back for repetitions later, so your total daily workload ends up around 3–5 times your new-card count.
Why do reviews multiply my daily workload?
Spaced repetition schedules each card for several repetitions at growing intervals — typically after a day, a few days, then a week or more. Once you've been adding cards for a couple of weeks, today's queue holds new cards plus reviews from many earlier days at once. That steady-state pileup is why 20 new cards a day feels like 80 total cards a day.
Is it better to study flashcards every day or in big sessions?
Daily. Spaced repetition only works when reviews happen close to their scheduled day — skipping days lets cards pile up and pushes reviews past the point where you still remember them. Twenty minutes every day reliably beats a two-hour session twice a week with the same total time.
Can RemNote pace my flashcards for me?
Yes. Give RemNote's Exam Scheduler your exam date and it decides how many new cards to introduce each day and when each review lands, so your whole deck is learned and reviewed by test day. No manual math required, and it adapts when your pace changes.
